LATHE MILLING ATTACHMENT

The lathe milling attachment is to eliminate the need for an operator owning both a milling machine and a lathe. It is designed to be mounted to the side of the milling machine and to be used without disturbing a setup in the associated vise. WORKING PRINCIPLE;-
The sliding bed is rotated with the help of a screw rod. In that sliding bed, the vice is fixed. The vice is used to hold the workpiece. The milling cutter is fixed to the lathe drill chuck. The exciting tool post is replaced so that to fix the attachment hereby suitable arrangement. By changing the milling cutter, the required shape is obtained in the workpiece. Holding Workpieces in the Vise. AS previously mentioned, five types of vises are manufactured in various sizes for holding milling machine workplaces. These vises have to locate keys or tongues on the underside of their bases so they may be located correctly in relation to the T-slots on the milling machine table.

As we are observing that the Industrial Sector is growing day by day and new techniques are developing with moving days. In these existing techniques of keyway milling attachment, there is the main disadvantage of not getting the exact center of the keyway. In our project, we are using a special attachment for lathe for doing keyway operation, in which we can get the exact center of the keyway. This helps to proper locking of the shafts. Our attachment will be very useful basically for small scale industry because in small scale industry separate milling machines are used for keyway operation, which is a costly operation according to them. By using our attachment on the lathe this operation would be less costly. One can also try for different mechanisms for obtaining the same type of attachment.
